Cypress, Calif. – Aug. 9, 2011 – CDG, a Boeing Company will participate as a guest speaker at the upcoming NIRMA 2011 Information Management Conference on August 14-17, 2001 in Summerlin, Nevada. Hosted by the Nuclear Information and Records Management Association (NIRMA) and supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency, this annual event provides a forum for discussion of some of the key issues associated with managing information and records in nuclear facility operations.

CDG’s VP of Operations, Mr. Warren Smith and Director of Enterprise Application Development, Mike Patterson, will host a presentation entitled, “Capturing Knowledge Management in Maintenance and Engineering Documentation”. The presentation will provide some insights into the common challenges that the commercial aviation industry and nuclear industry may often face in tracking and handling necessary changes to maintenance and engineering documentation. These documentation changes can impact operations efficiency, as well as safety in operations.

Regarding the upcoming presentation, Mr. Smith commented, “The commercial aviation industry uses a number of knowledge management tools and standard methods and practices to capture identified revisions that are needed in maintenance or engineering tasks. By providing examples and demonstrations of how the aviation industry tracks their needed revisions for maintenance processes, we hope to open a dialogue with the nuclear energy community to share the various methods they are using in nuclear facility operations and discover if any lessons can be learned and applied from the commercial aviation tools and practices used.”
