Proven Inmedius® S1000Dpublisher™ Significantly Expands Flexibility
Pittsburgh, PA – October 14, 2014 - CDG, a Boeing Company, today announced an expansion to its comprehensive Inmedius® S1000D Publishing Suite™ with a newly released publishing module Inmedius® S1000Dpublisher™ Building on the success of the legacy S1000Dtransition™ software, Publisher offers greatly expanded flexibility to simplify and expedite the technical documentation production process. A collection of easy to use, out-of-the box stylesheets create a more streamlined S1000D publishing process. Publisher also utilizes common Web standard technologies to enable easy stylesheet creation, customization and maintenance, eliminating the need to use proprietary or complex customized formats. As an added benefit, no third-party software plug-ins or additional licenses are required to support graphics or other requirements; all the functionality is included in one complete package.
The Publisher software module accommodates both military and commercial technical publishing, and has been successfully implemented by several CDG customers for aerospace and defense projects in Europe.
"Even in the age of modern information delivery, there is still a need to deliver paper-based publications and manuals, and Publisher easily handles both paper and digital outputs,” explained Sean Rushing, Director of Inmedius S1000D Products and Services. “Unlike many software tools that require proprietary languages or technologies, Publisher is built on standard Web technologies. Almost any user who is able to build a Web page can easily create a customized publication layout and perform simple stylesheet changes."
Publisher eliminates the need for managing parallel efforts to produce both S1000D information and other printed manual formats. Inmedius clients benefit from reduced publishing and paper printing expenses, improved productivity, the efficient processing of source files, enhanced PDF navigation, and localization capabilities to support output in multiple languages.
Additional functions facilitate creation and management of loose-leaf-based publications, including automatic generation of preliminary content, chapter titling and numbering, reference management, multi-volume publishing, applicability tagging, and effective page management. Web-standard technologies, including XHTML, Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) allow documents to be easily published to a new layout specification, such as commercial ATA or other military standards. Scalable, sharp vector graphics are produced through built-in Computer Graphics Meta (CGM) support.
The Inmedius S1000D Publishing Suite, a modular solution supporting the S1000D technical documentation lifecycle, facilitates the key functions of managing, authoring, viewing, and publishing S1000D data. It provides precise control over documentation delivery, including support for PDF files and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs).
