Inmedius® Spectrum™ 6.0 Software Release Available
New Architecture and UI Enhance Performance for Enterprise Deployments
LONG BEACH, Calif., Feb. 28, 2017 – Continental DataGraphics (CDG), a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA], announced the release of its newly developed Inmedius Spectrum™ architecture and next generation Inmedius® S1000D Publishing Suite™ version 6.0 software releases. Designed to enable enterprise-level installations with up to 250,000 technical documents, Inmedius Spectrum facilitates significantly enhanced security, system performance and usability.
“Inmedius Spectrum 6.0 provides a browser-based, scalable architecture that facilitates management, authoring, and publishing of technical data, with capabilities to support very large data sets for multiple aircraft and other commercial and defense equipment programs, ” explained Jonathan Kobaly, Inmedius Product Manager. “In rigorous testing, with a standard system configuration, Inmedius software leveraging this new Spectrum architecture loaded the Inbox screen containing 1.2 million objects in just two seconds. It also allowed for editing of Data Modules in under 10 seconds, while larger 5MB modules loaded within 40 seconds. It published 8,000 Data Modules to Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) within 25 minutes – a quarter of the time required in the previous release cycle, ” he added.
The Inmedius S1000D Publishing Suite offers an end-to-end, modular solution to support the entire S1000D documentation lifecycle. Customers can now deploy version 6.0 of Inmedius S1000Dmanager™ leveraging the Inmedius Spectrum architecture, which enables a cloud-based environment if required. The modern user interface (UI) has a consistent look and presentation across all server-based applications, and optimizes screen space, layout and organization. An intuitive interface accommodates touch screen displays, and significantly improves user experience and productivity. A modern design approach ensures that UI appearance and behavior is consistent across devices and multiple web browsers, and a responsive layout automatically resizes content based on screen size.
The updated browser-based editor, Inmedius S1000Dauthor Pro™ XE, offers a WYSIWYG view of content, providing an immediate familiarity and fast learning curve to quickly and easily create S1000D content with schema-based validation. Tags or text modes are also available for more advanced users. It also has intuitive design features, such as drag and drop of content, a breadcrumb bar that contextually displays element hierarchy and properties in one view, adjustable panels to easily locate the user’s current position in a document’s content, and user-friendly advanced table editing.
The viewer module, Inmedius S1000Dprism™ also leverages the Inmedius Spectrum architecture to deliver a mobile device deployment option. Apple iPad® users may download the mobile application from the online Apple App Store. The new interface introduces new methods for uploading, navigating and interacting with documents that are as simple as a click, tap or swipe.
The version 6.0 updates are now available for all S1000D Publishing Suite modules and Inmedius® Advisor. All include additional support for S1000D Issue 4.1. Customers with current maintenance contracts should contact CDG Customer Support to begin the update or upgrade process.
