How Commercial Aviation is Supported by S1000D
Over the past several years, Airlines for America (A4A) has been working diligently, hand-in-hand with the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD). Their objective was to further enhance the S1000D Specification to include capabilities that are important to civil aviation. From the management of product configuration, to the creation of Service Bulletins (SB) and Component Maintenance Publications (CMP), the S1000D Specification has now been expanded to meet the needs of many commercial aviation processes.
The purpose of this White Paper is to provide an overview of the new features of S1000D Issue 4.1 and how these capabilities can be applied for commercial aviation projects. It focuses on those primary features of the newest issue that address ATA iSpec 2200 processes and requirements. The brief provides a quick introduction on how S1000D affects civil aviation, CMPs, the new SB Module, the Common Information Repository (CIR) and changes that involves, and briefly describes additional enhancements.
